RIPs Worth Remembering

Friday 1 Dec 2006

As I get older, I think a little more about the end of my lifespan and what will happen after I'm gone. Increasingly, I find myself wishing that people would remember me for things I did during my life. Accordingly, for years now I've made an effort to read obituaries when I see them in the news. So, this week I want to tell you about a couple of notable people who recently passed away, but left much behind:

Buck O'Neil
RIP 10/6/06
Prominent baseball player, manager, scout from the 1930s onward, one of the oldest living players until recently, and he should be in the Hall of Fame.

Dave Cockrum
RIP 11/26/06
Co-creator of the new X-Men in 1975, he was partially responsible for their huge success over the next three decades.
