A flurry of recent events has left me barely getting stories written in time, and stressing about keeping on pace. This made me think about how long I intend to do this.
Reaching episode 900 is a certainty - the Belphanior/gateway arc alone could fill the space between now and 900. Given that, it seems that an episode 1000 is also a certainty, because there are many things still to be finished.
However...I can't do this forever, and my non-writing concerns are taking up more and more of my time. It would be one thing if I was making money from this, but that doesn't seem likely to happen (and even if it did, that would have to be with new stories and characters, not the Adventurers, due to copyright isses with the Greyhawk setting and NPCs I've used for the last 14 years.) I'm also not completely comfortable with charging people for my writing (and the issues that come with the gathering of the money, secure distribution of the stories, etc.)
Assuming an ending at episode 1000, and with the current pace of one new episode per week, this means that you'll see episode 900 at the end of 2005, and episode 1000 at the end of 2007. I have other ideas for other writing, but I think it's safe to say that all regular writing and releases will end after 2007.
And then we'll see.
