Adventurers Fanmail for Aug 2011 through May 2012

published Tuesday 29 May 2012

I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that I picked up your series a couple of months ago and could not put it down until I read the most recent post. The stories told within were more interesting than MANY books that sell for $10 at the local book store. My wife was out of town with our son and I was bored, surfing the net, and decided to look up d&d stories on google (nostalgia I guess). Any way, that turns up some decidedly poor options, but after getting to some forum from a few years ago there was a link to your first story. After that, I just searched everything I could until I found Peldor.com.

I realize you may not be writing these stories any longer, and that's fine, you certainly did it for a good long portion of your life, but regardless I thought you should know that some folks are still finding your stories today, and enjoying them a great deal!

Hope you have a great day, and thank you for providing me with hours upon hours (weeks / months really!) of entertainment!

Sincerely,

Chad

I am still writing them, just not as often as I'd like. Glad you found them!

I have been reading your stories starting around the posting of episode #30. I continue to be excited when I see that "the Publisher" has sent me some mail. Like many of them over the last 10 years, I will try to read it slowly, in small pieces to make it last. (That does not always work because I just have to keep going.)

I wrote to you back when you cut back on the frequency of releases. Like I said then, we readers always want more and want it soon. But I also realize that real life has to take precedence. You seem to have managed to still keep up with some writing when you can and I am very happy that you have. Not having a firm schedule makes the episodes seem more valuable. If they come once per week or once per year, I will still enjoy them. And like I said, if you get into some writing other than The Adventurers, keep us informed.

THANK YOU for all of the work on a great story.

Mike

I appreciate the praise. It would be pretty easy to go back to one a week and have them be smaller in size and weaker in content, but I prefer the model of less-frequent episodes with more valuable content.

I used to read your stories a looooooong time ago. I was just wondering what happened to the site or if you are still active in any way? Thanks.

It's all on the site on the front page...including periodic rants and also the last published story.

Loving your adventures of Peldor...keep it up. I was gaming round about the time your crew's adventures were happening and I'm having major happy flashbacks from your work.

Nice one

Regards

Jason

Happy to hear it! Thanks!

I just wanted to say "Thank you" for the Adventurers.

Your imagination and hard work have brought me great pleasure.

I hope the life-changing events work out for the best.

Regards,

Michael

Well, I can't say they did, but as always, I survived the challenges thrown my way. Glad you've enjoyed the stories!

Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary writing the Adventurers and your other series. I have made it a point to read everyone I could find on the web and have always enjoyed them. It amazes me you never published your work and made a fortune. I hope only the best for your future and your family. Thanks so much for 20 years of entertainment I hope you find the time in your busy life to give me, and the rest of your following; more of the same. Bless you and your family.

Rich

I appreciate the praise. It often amazes me that I haven't found some way to profit from all my writing, but I have to remind myself that not all profit is monetary in nature.

Your rant brought back a lot of memories. If my memory serves me well, I've been following the Adventurers since 1996. I never took the time to give much feedback, but I wanted to let you know that your work has brought me a lot of joy and entertainment, and it still does.

Basically, I just wanted to say thanks.

Stefan

Thank you for writing! And it's nice to hear from people who have been reading for that long!

Just wanted to say Congrats on 20 years of writing! I started reading the adventurers the summer before I started high school around 15 years ago. I couldn't stop until I got caught up. Since that summer, I've easily read through the entire story 5-6 times; and often come back to various sections. Although I'm not looking forward to the story stopping at 1000, I can't wait to see how you'll end it. Thanks for 20 great years!

David

It may not stop at 1000...especially if I were to ever go back to smaller, weekly episodes. We'll see!

My name is Paul, and I have been reading your stories for a long time, I have read through them all twice :).

I really just wanted to say thanks for all the great stories, and while your writing has gotten better, I do miss those days where we added a bit of narration from the actual players (I know the players have stopped playing however).

I have to say, Bel, is not evil, neither would I consider the punisher or wolverine evil, more like guardians, even if Bel is on the POWER HUNGER/KILL BIGGER badder monsters(in humanoid and other forms).

I do miss stories of the Peldor type, with his charm and semi wit :).

But you make up for that with Bel and the THUNDERER FROM DOWN UNDER :).

I think this is my second time writing, and sorta feel bad it has not been more actually, but I usually read, that you say your swamped :).

Thanks for the great writing and letting me share in the adventures :).

Paul

Thanks for the praise. I probably need to discuss the reasons for my being swamped in the "notes" section of the next story, but it's the same old reasoning I've used before, which is that there are a lot of things I enjoy in life, and I like to do them all, and writing is only one of them.

Long time (lurker) fan here . Wow - huge and great episode! I knew it would be a record size when I had to extend the message view in Gmail. I've read and re-read Adventurers for years and am impressed at your dedication and output.

Thanks and happy holidays!

David

I'd always felt like I failed to do a true "ten level" dungeon, so finally I did. Glad it came out so well!

Wow what a wonderful chapter filled with epic and immense battles.

I greatly enjoyed the tale and how Belph and the adventurers triumphed without loss of life.

Thank you very much for writing such a fantastic battle.

I now look forward to a climatic end.

I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas, a Healthy & Happy and Properous New Year.

Philip

The end was just the beginning - wait until you read 985!

I just wanted to let you know that I have been reading The Adventurers for as far back as I can remember. The stories and characters are amongst my favorite fantasy genres. I check the site every week in hopes that a new chapter has been posted. Thank you so very much for the hard work and dedication you have put into this amazing piece of work over the years, it has certainly enriched myself and many readers. Keep up the great work and I wish you the best in all of your endeavors!

Bill

Thanks! I'll try to get a new episode out more often, but you have to admit, the super jumbo-sized ones are awesome!
